Activity

REHEARSAL

We practice on Saturdays at the Kitamae Community Center in Chatan Town (with one Saturday off each month). We focus on learning new songs, playing together, and practicing reading music and listening skills, all while emphasizing the element of “play.” During breaks, we often play tag and other games, cherishing the children’s sense of “fun.”

When tackling a new and challenging song, or when something is unclear, we can get help from friends who have more experience.

Concept

Thank you for visiting our site. I have been a piano tuner and have managed a piano school for about 15 years since 2009. Having observed many people’s involvement with piano, I’ve come to feel that for early childhood music education, the violin is a simpler and more intuitive instrument to play compared to the piano. Additionally, while piano lessons, practice, and performance are mostly solitary activities, one of the violin’s attractions is the joy of practicing together with others. Furthermore, after initially forming a children’s violin orchestra, I saw parents picking up and trying their children’s instruments, which made me realize how wonderful it would be if families could make music together. This led to our goal of creating a music circle for families to enjoy together. Of course, the piano remains an essential instrument for learning music, and many excellent musicians can play the piano. I hope that through this club, people will discover opportunities to explore music and find joy in playing instruments for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

Isn’t this a violin or music school?
–While it is a place for children to learn music, we aim to be more of a club where members can realize the music they want to play, rather than a traditional school where students complete assignments from teachers.

Can complete beginners join?
–Absolutely! We will support you with the basic skills you need, from how to handle the violin and produce sound, to reading music notation.

Why is a piano tuner teaching violin?
–Violin offers ensemble playing opportunities, helps develop better hearing through finding the right notes, and deepens understanding of instruments through maintenance. Both piano and violin are great instruments!

Do you rent violins?
–Members need to purchase their own instruments. We recommend affordable second-hand violins to keep costs down, and we help facilitate the buying and selling of hand-me-down instruments.

Do you teach piano as well?
–For members, I can provide consultation about pieces they want to play.

Do parents have to play too?
–It’s optional, but we’ve observed that children tend to progress better when parents and children make music together.
